I don't really re-gift. That's not my style. So, here's the oddest thing I received this year:

It's Baby Jesus and the fam in wire with a giant spider! I'm not sure what the giant spider is supposed to be and yes, I did yell "it's Baby Jesus and a giant spider!" when I opened it Friday night.

The best gift I received may be the Brighton key ring I got in the gift exchange on Christmas Eve. I also liked the checks I received in cards from my dad and grandfather. Those were probably my fave.

Did you for real ask a black woman if macaroni and cheese is a black thing? What is wrong with you? How have you lived on this planet for this long and not eaten mac and cheese? Macaroni and cheese is not a racial thing, Pat. It is delicious and you should be ashamed of yourself for never partaking of macaroni and cheese.

I had a nice Christmas. The party Friday night was chaotic, but fine. I did buy a table runner, don't worry. My father-in-law made a really good turkey and sausage gumbo and everyone brought booze. I didn't drink because I never do at those things and because someone should be sober. I made bacon wrapped scallops and fried ravioli and rotel dip and a cheesecake. The kids loved playing with their cousins. Saturday morning my mother-in-law took the kids to breakfast and I made a trifle to bring to her house for the Christmas Eve party. We went to church at three. Service was really nice. Andrew tried to go back to another family after the children's message. All of the cousins sat on one row. After church we went to my mother-in-law's for the party. There was all kinds of food and we played a game called Last Word. Santa came to the house and the kids sang a song for him. It was a lot of fun. We came home, I played Santa (I love that), but I lost a wii game that I bought for the kids. I tend to forget where I've hidden stuff prior to Christmas, even though I thought I put everything in the china cabinet this year. Yesterday we stayed home and watched movies and the kids played with their new toys. We hardly heard a peep from them all day – it was fantastic. All in all, it was a nice weekend and I enjoyed the time spent with family and seeing the kids sing and having fun. 

I'm sorry I'm getting to the blog a little late today, but it is Christmas. Tomorrow's post will likely be in the afternoon.
We have Christmas dinner – late lunch. I tend to change up the menu from year to year; sometimes it's stuffed Cornish hens, turkey, or ham. This year I ordered dinner from Heneybaked Ham and had red velvet cake like last year. I love red velvet cake.

We go to Christmas Eve service at our big Baptist church. This is something I never did growing up and I like the tradition of going with the kids. All of my husband's side of the family goes and we sit on one big row. We sing carols, then our pastor has all the children come up and tells them the story of the candy cane and the kids get candy canes, then there are more songs and the message, then more songs. Probably "O Come All Ye Faithful" and "Silent Night" and I will be in front of a man who thinks he is one of the Three Tenors, it never fails.
