2.209/365:

I’m upset and aggravated. I made dinner, spent over three hours “updating” my three kids’ school online Annual Update (it’s not an update if you still have to go through line by line), my son’s band online forms — can’t log into the app to pay band fees, and cleaned the entire kitchen despite all three teenagers having chores requiring them to clean the kitchen.

I’m done. Done. Done.

Here’s something good from my favorite Instagrammer.

1.205/365: fickle game

I know the numbers in posts have jumped, I missed some days here and there in the post-vacation couple of weeks in summer when I do not live by a calendar. You’ll be glad to know I’ve purchased my Erin Condren 18 month calendar and it arrives tomorrow. I’ve used tons of calendars and I like this one it’s big, but who am I kidding? I have three teenagers with three different schedules, two different schools, a hundred teachers, and my oldest is a senior this year. None of that has anything to do with the song I’m posting today.

I’m currently rewatching Suits, one of my favorite shows and I heard this song that I missed the first time. It’s “Fickle Game” by Amber Run. It’s about life. Getting older, being younger. Good stuff. Enjoy.

1.202/365: update on the “lifestyle”

Isn’t “lifestyle” a weird word? First it a negative word used for LGBTQ folks, then Martha Stewart was a”lifestyle expert,” meaning she taught us how to cook, bake, decorate, shop at tag sales, garden — an expert on pretty much everything. And now we have Gwyneth who sells a $370 t-shirt on Goop. White tee with cashmere. White-tee. So, now we’re here, where what you eat is a lifestyle. I am now fully living the plant-basted lifestyle. Not completely vegan. I’m not doing it for the planet, although it’s fantastic for those who do. I’m doing it for me,for my health. I still carry leather handbags and where leather shoes. I’m cooking meat and dairy for my family, but I’ll have vegetables. If they’re having tacos I’ll put beans and corn, salsa and veggie “cheese” on my tortilla. I’ve found vegan Ben & Jerry’s for National Hot Fudge Sundae Day on Thursday, though treats are not the norm. I’ve lost almost 17 lbs. That’s why. I had to something drastic for my life because it’s too easy to cheat on diets. And I don’t want to have Type 2 Diabetes one day. I’m not going down that road.

So, that’s what I’m up to. What are you up to? I’d like to know.

1.200/365: better being me

200th day of the year already. How did that happen?

Unlike this Notes From Your Therapist post, I did want to be someone else at times. Sometimes long stretches. But I am authentically me now. At 45. I have been for a couple of years. Being who you are can be hard because you have to address things that may be buried deep. Digging is worth it.

2.199/365: BLL Finale

Y’all. I can’t take it. I’m a huge Big Little Lies fan — first the novel, then the current show. It’s been a two season wild ride ending in tonight’s finale. Not season finale — finale finale.

So let’s look at some BBL memes.

These two go together…

Oh, Ed. I’m going to miss you.
