2.135/365: just snap out of it

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and I’ll be posting something each day for the rest of the month here daily.

I found a fantastic illustrator who is great with words. She’s Marissa Betley; you can find her on Instagram.

No one’s ever said that exactly to me. But I’ve heard variations:

“Just get some exercise.”

“Get some sun — it’s a beautiful day.”

“Get more sleep.”

“Get out of bed.”

“Take a shower.”

“Get out of the house.”

“I heard of this book…”

“My brother/sister/cousin was depressed and they only needed …”

“Do you take vitamins?”

“You should try _________oils.”

“Have you tried this Bible study?”

“Maybe it’s your diet. You should go __________free.”

Only twice had a friend say “you need to see a doctor. That is my experience.
