I’ve always liked Beck. I’m not saying I’m a huge fan, but I’ve followed his work since “Loser.” Who doesn’t love that song?
A few years ago, Beck put together his Record Club, consisting of dozens of musicians; most notably (to me): Thurston Moore, Wilco, and St. Vincent. They’ve covered five or six complete albums by different artists in ONE day. Complete albums. One day.
My favorite albums the Record Club have covered are The Velvet Underground’s The Velvet Underground and Nico and Kick by INXS. Kick is one of my favorite albums ever. No one in his generation had the sound and charisma of Michael Hutchence. Sweet baby Jesus of Australia — he was amazing.
I wanted to do this post several years ago, but the videos weren’t embed-able, nor on You Tube. But (yay!) they are now. So, today, I give you Beck’s Record Club covering a good bit of Kick by INXS.
