m.i.a.

Sorry I've been M.I.A. for a few days. I'm getting ready for ScrapFest, the kids were sick over the weekend, then I got sick yesterday. I lost three pounds. It was bad. When I read the thermometer it was upside down and I thought it said 201 degrees. I started planning my funeral. That's all you need to know. Today I'm exhausted, so I'm going to have a nap. I need to be back at 100% for SF setup tomorrow. And it's Mardi Gras, which I couldn't care less about today. It's raining, so I'd much rather be at home than wet at a parade. It's naptime. Y'all be good. I'll be back soon.

30 day song challenge — day 23 – a song that you want to play at your wedding

*I'm taking the song challenge to mean "of all time," not genre-specific. Any of these songs are subject to change at any time.

The hubs and I were married in 1997. It was a church wedding and reception, no dancing, no fun music, no booze — the way I wanted it. I did, however, have the pianist play a few of my favorite songs before I walked down the aisle. One of them was "My Love" by Paul McCartney and another was "Here, There, and Everywhere." Here is Paul's take on it from Unplugged.

words and stuff

The funny thing about having a blog is that when you really want to get something off your chest, you can't because too many people you know in real life read your blog. It wouldn't matter if this blog was anonymous, but it happens not to be, so I can't write about what I most want to write about at the moment. There is a good thing about anonymity, a safeness about it. Someone writing in anonymity can put their feelings out there for the world and be free and not worry what people would think of them because no one knows their identity. I'm not all that guarded on the blog. I don't hold back a lot because this is my outlet, but of course there are things I don't tell You People. There are things I have to keep for myself, by choice or because typing some things out for the blogosphere would have ramifications, whatever they may be.

So anyway, words and stuff. The end.

favorite scene

Today is the 25th anniversary of the release of Pretty in Pink, my favorite movie. I've written about Pretty in Pink before, the love I've had for it since 1986 and how much I adored and still adore the music of the film. The story is a classic one. The fashions may change, but there will always be a poor girl who loves a popular boy and there will always be a friend who wants to be more than friends.

Also, the Rave-Ups!

In honor of the anniversary, here is my favorite scene from the movie, Duckie's dance.

And one of my favorite songs ever, the Rave-Ups' "Positively Lost Me," which isn't on the soundtrack.
