Y'all should know that one of my favorite sites is Yo, Should I Dump This Asshole, where people write in and ask if they should dump their significant others. This one from yesterday may be the site's pinnacle moment.
Home Improvement. I hated that show. And Coach. And Wings.
Animaniacs. That show is wicked funny. I bought the dvds for my children. I originally watched the show while in college and I may have learned more from it than in some of my classes.
Seinfeld. Because this:
Elaine was inappropriate and awesome. And hilarious.
Clearly MTV because they still had 120 Minutes.
No contest. Britney. Kids, let's talk about a little show called Star Search. Star Search was an amazing show hosted by Ed McMahon and was the forerunner of American Idol. Britney was on this show in 1992. It started her ginormous career. Let's have a look.
Yeah, you can tell from that giant bow that she was going to be a huge star. Did you see the little girl who didn't shake her hand? She was never heard from again.
I'm picking Bell Biv DeVoe because the song "Poison" is awesome and for the fashions. Big ass cardigans, one red shoe, parkas with Timberlands, track suits, and wacky hats. I'm not going to comment on the video hos outfits.
Those of you who know me will not be surprised to learn that I didn't like any of the boy bands. They were too put-together for me – the cute one, the dangerous one, the goofy one, the shy one, the baby one. Manufactured music is not my thing.
That being said, DANG, Justin Timberlake and J.C. Chavez were cute. Timberlake still is. Whatever happened to J.C.? He had a good voice and was good looking – doesn't that usually equal Hollywood gold?
This song is technically the year 2000, but I think Timberlake and J.C. are pretty caliente in it.
I have a few favorite one-hit-wonder songs of the 90s, but I'm listing "You Gotta Be" by Des'ree because of the SNL sketch where Ellen Cleghorne was OJ Simpson's 1st wife explaining how she got out of domestic violence from OJ (because the song came out around the same time as the OJ trial), “you gotta jump high, you gotta run fast, you gotta be a part-time ninja… all i know, all i know, mace saved my life…”
I sang the substiute lyrics a lot in college around my friends because that's what kind of sick sense of humor I have.
Dude. How can you not love a group who said condoms were their fashion statement and went by nicknames?
I didn't so much love the TLC for their music, but because one of the members was a crazy(sexycool) person and burnt her boyfriend's house down, then continued to date him. There was also T-Boz's secret brain tumor. And now rumor is they want to bring Left-Eye's hologram on stage and a movie is in the works.
Betcha didn't know I have a TLC story. Oh, but I do. Do any of you suffer from Shy Bladder Syndrome? You know, the mysterious affliction where you can't pee in a public restroom or a doctor's office when you're given a plastic container with your name written on the side? That would be me. Cannot do it. When I was first pregnant in December 1997 (miscarriage), I was given that plastic container and sent to the restroom in my Atlanta doctor's office, which was next to the office front desk, which was extremely noisy. I was in the restroom for probably 10 minutes with the faucet running and the nurse knocking on the door saying "are you okay in there?" and then a barely audible "Waterfalls" came through the overhead speaker. It became my go-to song for OB/GYN visits and I'm sure all 5 of my OBs were very thankful.
