2.94/365: cookie con

So, there is an event called Cookie Con, which is the only Con I’m interested in. My friend, The Fantastic Jenny P, and I are highly considering going next year. Why? Because these are not mere cookies. Oh no, people. These are serious. And some are life-affirming.

2.93/365: Happy birthday to Adam Scott

In the zero percent chance that one of my favorite actors and fellow R.E.M. super-fan, Adam Scott reads my blog (he doesn’t), happy birthday.

There were lots of R.E.M. references by his character, Ben Wyatt, in the show Parks and Recreation. One reference is just fantastic. It’s before Ben’s birthday party and he says “Get this, I asked the DJ what R.E.M. albums he has. He’s got Monster but not Automatic for the People. What is this, a mid-’90s party? No, it’s an early ’90s party!”

I love that.

Mr. Scott was in the “Drive” video back in the day, look to the right of Mr. Michael Stipe’s head for a young Adam.

Good stuff.

2.89/365: my favorite wedding

We went to my cousin’s wedding in Dallas over the weekend and it was lovely. Just lovely. The bride was beautiful, my cousin is a handsome young man and they will have gorgeous babies one day.

We were greeted with rosé when we checked in and given champagne when we got to the ceremony. They wanted us liquored up. The ceremony was across the street in a park with a giant eyeball in it.

My husband at the reception. Giant eyeball watching us.

The chairs and couple were not facing the eyeball, don’t worry.

The reception was on the hotel rooftop. It was 50°. We were cold. There was sushi, wagu brisket barbecue, and more. And a fro yo station.

I loved my dress

And there was this hanging from the ceiling at the reception

I want to hang this above my kitchen island

We had a great time. There was dancing. The cakes were delicious. There was drunk dancing (not by me). There were lovely flowers (roses and ranunculus. There was dancing in which the dancers were committed to their dancing, however bad it may have been. There were stunning bridesmaids dresses. There were 60 year-olds dancing to Kanye.

When we got back to our room, this superfantastic gift box was waiting for us. I’ll leave with that.

Vodka, chips, salsa, cookies, fun mineral water, and what you don’t see —bouncy eyeballs!
