This week has been crazy with kid school stuff. Tonight was a banquet with not great pasta.

I’ve spent the past five hours making a science website for my son. I can’t believe my standards have sunk so low in design. Good thing my name isn’t on it.

I’ve had a migraine for two days. It started with my daughter’s body splash yesterday. Tonight was her awards ceremony at school and everyone around me had bathed in White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor.

I was a great actress for a long time. Until the depression started bubbling over. At times I slip back into that role when I tell people I’m doing “fine.” I still struggle, but not nearly as much. Not even close.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. If you’re struggling, reach out. There is help. The stigma is being knocked away as I write this. You can be ok. You don’t have to be Best Actress.

No one’s ever said that exactly to me. But I’ve heard variations:
“Just get some exercise.”
“Get some sun — it’s a beautiful day.”
“Get more sleep.”
“Get out of bed.”
“Take a shower.”
“Get out of the house.”
“I heard of this book…”
“My brother/sister/cousin was depressed and they only needed …”
“Do you take vitamins?”
“You should try _________oils.”
“Have you tried this Bible study?”
“Maybe it’s your diet. You should go __________free.”
Only twice had a friend say “you need to see a doctor. That is my experience.
