Y'all know I love sushi. I've posted many a roll on the blog over the years. I don't like your average California Roll either.
1. Mandeville Roll from Little Tokyo (Mandeville, LA) – this roll has shrimp and is fried with a white sauce that is yum-o.
2. The Bomb from Koto (Baton Rouge) – this is the roll with the three-drippy combination of sauces, as Prof. Dr. Hiljary and I like to call it. It's like sushi with a gravy.
3. The Hawaiian Roll from Koto – here's the description from the menu, "fried coconut shrimp and cream cheese inside topped with hand-selected ssliced of mango and avocado then decorated with our amazing creamy sauce." Now you should know that I do not like mango AT ALL and I don't like cream cheese in my sushi, but this roll is different. I don't care where you are right now – go to Baton Rouge and have this.
4. The King of the Ocean – OMG, this roll has everything (read in Stephon's voice from SNL), or should I say, had everything. Once upon a time, about two years ago, there was a sushi restaurant in Mandeville called Nagyoshi. I kept hearing about this particular roll that was huge and had all the shellfish in it: shrimp lobster, crab, everything. Y'all just don't know how good it was.
5. The Big Mac Roll from Megumi (Covington, LA) – this roll is so yummy. What I love about Megumi is the presentation. Their plates are absolutely gorgeous. You would think you were in a 4-star restaurant and not in a strip center by the courthouse. And the crab spring roll is divine. I want one right now.

These sound fantastico. Did we have the King of the Ocean when we ate at Nagyoshi? I don’t remember.

I miss the filet mignon roll. The fake one at the place in Hammond just wasn’t as good.

OMG. For real – that was the best roll. Now I need to edit my post.
