6.62/365: March challenge day 4 — Best childhood memory

I have three.

One from 2nd grade, going on a field trip to the big post office in Shreveport and seeing everything from where stamps are sold to the big machines that sort the mail. I’m a big gerk for how things work.

My second is from 3rd grade, going to the Revel Arts Festival, again, a field trip, and seeing and making what I thought was “real” art for the first time.

Thirdly was when I was 11 or 12 and discovering the Centenary College radio station. That’s where my real love of music started. My exposure to New Wave and the artists that really spoke to me. The Smiths, R.E.M., The Smiths, New Order, etc.

5 Random Facts About Kerry:

1. I hate bad grammar. “Anyways” is my latest pet peeve.

2. Superhero movies are one of my favorite things.

3. Risotto is one of my favorite foods.

4. Belle is my favorite Disney princess, followed by Tiana.

4. When I was in 8th grade, my school had a Mardi Gras ball and the teacher who was running it had only one demand of the DJ (who was called The Green Machine) — to play “New Orleans Ladies” by Le Roux. I think of this every Carnival season and it makes me laugh. It’s a very specific random memory, but thats my brain.
