reality bites
I watched Reality Bites this weekend and was reminded that the movie easily had the best soundtrack of any movie in the '90s. Yes — any. With old and new music from Squeeze, The Juliana Hatfield Three, Crowded House, World Party, and Lisa Loeb, the soundtrack was both fresh and familiar and it rocked.
For your entertainment, here are my favorites off the Reality Bites soundtrack. The songs are about wanting. That's pretty clear. If you remember the movie, you know that was a theme as well, beautifully supported by the music. All of these are on my iPod and they would be a good addition to yours as well.
"Tempted" is in my top five of favorite songs of all time, so it's up first.
Juliana Hatfield is just fantastic. This is a great one and I've still never heard anything quite like this song. The video is from my old MTV favorite, "120 Minutes."
Do y'all remember World Party? They had the song "Put the Message in the Box." "When You Come Back to Me" is just as good.
Lisa Loeb has two songs on the soundtrack, "Stay" and "Fools Like Me." I've always loved "Fools Like Me."
Crowded House is simply fantastic. Here is "Locked Out."
And lastly, because I couldn't find a video for this song, I made an MP3 for you of Me Phi Me's "Revival!" This is the mad note. This is the song playing when Ben Stiller's character drives up next to Winona Ryder at the red light. Good stuff.
Take a dip and revive yourself.
This may be one of my favorite posts I've done. Love the Reality Bites.
Christmas gift idea #6
I think we're up to #6. I'm not sure, I'm not fully caffeinated yet. Oh well.
Everyone has a Beatles fan in their life. And if you don't, well, there is me. Someone needs to get me this.
Christmas gift idea#6: Max Dalton Beatles print.
It's a limited edition, only 500 printed. Max Dalton is a pretty great illustrator. Check out his Guitar Lessons print on his site — it's fantastic, but unfortunately sold out.
I retract what I wrote earlier
Wait up, hold on — THIS is the weirdest thing I've seen in years.
Lorenzo Lamas, Bonnie Tyler, Radar from MASH, Mark Freaking Hamil, Linda Evans, Bananrama, The Bangles, Robert Guilome, Larry Hagman, and my boyfriend Andrew McCarthy — OMG WTF.
They were feeling it, man. I need a moment.
Okay. I don't know what to make of that. Nope, still don't know what that's all about. Fallon from Dyansty? Really? Jaws from James Bond? Rudy?
We live in a crazy world, people.
the weirdest thing I’ve seen today
I thought that the woman I overheard at the nail salon saying she was getting her cat an iPad for Christmas would be the weirdest thing I came across today, BUT NO. People of the interwebs, I give you a Norwegian video of mostly has been celebrities singing/lip synching "Let it Be."
Yes, that was Roger Moore, Huey Lewis, Jason Alexander, Ricki Lake, Josie Biesett, Alberto Tomba, George Wendt, Philip, Michael Thomas, Glenn Close, Pamela Anderson, Leslie Nielsen, Dolph Lundgren, Kelly McGillis, Tonya Harding, Steve Guttenberg, Carlton from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Dee Snider, Right Said Fred, freakin' Judd Nelson, Kathleen Turner, Sherilyn Fenn and the chick who played "Laura Palmer", Daryl Hannah, Lou Ferrigno, Ricky Schroder, and Fab from Milli Vanilli superimposed on a beach.
I only have one question: where was Hasselhof?
I love the twitter
he wore them
Yesterday I posted about Conan talking about jeggings and last night he wore them on the show.
Make it stop.
Conan is pro-jeggings
Jeggings (jean leggings) are a controversial topic it seems. Conan and Tim Gunn discussed jeggings last night and Conan "just loves jeggings" while Tim seems a little appalled at the thought.
Conan,
You are like the older brother I've never met. Just as a sister would, I am giving you the advice you didn't ask for: just say no to women in jeggings.
Your sister,
Kerry
“it’s ok” by Cee-lo
Cee-lo has followed up the best song of the year, "F*ck You," with a great song, "It's OK." I love the retro Motown stylings of Cee-lo and the typography in this video. It's fantastic.
I hope this gets to you video
Because I'm a romantic at heart and this is kind of fantastic, watch this:
From Jezebel.com:
The video was put together by a guy named Walter C. May and his roommates—who just happen to be in a band called The Daylights. It was posted on YouTube yesterday and has since then been tweeted about by May's friends, random strangers, and even Katy Perry.
But May's girlfriend, for whom the video was made, hasn't seen it yet.
That's because May wanted the video to reach her organically—through tweets, links passed between friends, and blog posts. He wanted to show his girl that they "can feel close without having to be close every day," and that their relationship can remain strong even though they'll be thousands of miles apart over the next two years.
