dramatic reading of a break-up letter

Yesterday while perusing the interwebs I came across something on Best Week Ever so fantastic I had to share.

It's a break-up letter. Not just any break-up letter, a dramatic reading of a break-up letter that had to have been written by a scorned 13 year-old. It makes me wish I kept my old letters. There was Pulitzer Prize winning stuff in those.

Hilarious. Oh, and Typepad keeps telling me the embed tags are missing, but they're clearly not. Deadgummit, Typepad.

P.S. Stay tuned for the return of Tunes You Need Tuesday, featuring the last line of the break-up letter. Amazing.

lemonheads kind of day

It's been a Lemonheads kind of day. The band, not the candy. I love this band. Yes, I've written about them before, but humor me.

I first heard of The Lemonheads in Sassy Magazine when I read about the fantastic Evan Dando. I knew this was music I'd like and bought Lick without hearing a single song on it. Shortly after that I saw The Lemonheads on 120 Minutes on MTV and heard more about them. I still think The Lemonheads had something that no other band then did. They weren't just pop, definitely not grunge — they were doing their own thing and doing it well.

"Confetti" is my favorite Lemonheads song. One of my favorite songs period. I like this version a lot.

Another favorite, "If I Could Talk I'd Tell You."

"Into Your Arms" is one of their more well known songs. This is a particularly good performance. And Evan Dando's hair looks particularly nice.

And just for fun, Lemonheads doing "Luka" by Suzanne Vega. This was on the 1989 album, Lick. I can't remember when I bought that album, I'm thinking it was 1991, but I know I bought their '92 and '93 albums on the day those were released (because that's the kind of person I am). The Lemonheads made a lot of good music in the 1990's. "Luka" was one of the first covers I heard that I thought was better than the original. The video is also pretty great. Evan sitting next to a television.

and now for something completely different

As a journalist, I feel it is my duty to bring you this photo essay. (What? I'm kind of a journalist — I know the jargon and have seen His Gal Friday and All the President's Men dozens of times.)

And now, five naked men wearing very fancy hats (click image, semi-not safe for work because of nekkid men posed sitting so you can't see their junk).

thoughts during the puppy bowl

The hubs is watching the Supra Bowl at a party, so the kids and I are watching the Puppy Bowl.

I don't think they needed the addition of chicken cheerleaders.

One of the puppies' names is Jessie. I have an aversion to that name. Names I also have an aversion to are Justin, Bill, Tina, Steve, and names that end in I. Names that end in I look unfinished to me. This is my logic, welcome to it.

I saw the commercial for Mike Tyson's pigeon show and he said he never loved anything until he had his pigeons. Do you think that makes Robin Givens mad?

The beagle mix on this show is the cutest thing I've ever seen.

After getting several emails and texts the past few days I'm convinced people cannot follow directions.

We had a slumber party for the oldest child Friday night. One little girl had a meltdown because her fleece pj pants were making her too hot. I empathized.

I'm not a smushed-in dog face kind of person.

I also hate German Shepards. One bit me on the butt when I was little. And I think they look like wolves.

Rotel dip may be my favorite food.

Just saw a commercial for pet arthritis medicine.

Kitty Halftime is the best thing in my life at this moment. You haven't lived until you've seen Kitty Halftime.

You really haven't lived until you've seen Mike Tyson wax poetic about pigeons.

not that I’m going to stalk him

As you know, it's Anderson Cooper Week on the Kerry Blog (what — it IS NOW) and big news was announced today. Anderson will be a grand marshall in the Endymion parade a few days before Mardi Gras. The theme “Endymion's American Masters.” So, of course they called Anderson. I think we all know where I will be that Saturday. I haven't been this excited since ever. I would say when I was on the same plane as Bobby McFerrin, but that wasn't all that exciting. Don't worry, be happy, Bobby.

s%it just got real

It's time to put an end to the unrest in Egypt because my boyfriend, Anderson Cooper, was punched 10 times by protestors. Dammit, that face is a national treasure and if my Anderson is harmed I can't be held responsible for what I might do.

Egypt, don't make me come over there.

UPDATE: A photo from The Daily What shows AC being confronted on the streets.

I don't often get political on the blog, but I'mma say it — Egypt, y'all need to settle the hell down. AC is just doing his job, trying to tell your story as a journalist and doesn't need to get a "good smackdown" as someone told me earlier. Be safe, Coop.
