My Favorite Meds is one of my favorite Instagrammers. This one is great because I’ve heard so many people over the years say thru don’t want to take psychiatric meds for their whatever disorder because it will change their personality. Um, that’s not how they work. I know, I’ve been on them for 15 years.
I’ve tried all the music streaming services as well as Sirius XM Radio and Spotify is the only one that gets me. I really wanted to like Apple Music, but it wasn’t intuitive enough and pretty difficult to find what you want. Amazon doesn’t have enough music, which is weird. Pandora was great when it started, but hasn’t kept up with the other services. I haven’t tried Tidal because the reviews make it sound like I don’t need to. So, it’s Spotify for me.
Today, I got this in my email.
And they’re right. I like to play that after dropping my son off at school. It’s loud and fun and bitchy and I love it. Because I love you, here it is — take a listen.
I found this hilariously despicable. A friend posted on Facebook how disgusting Kamala Harris was for her “enjoy the long weekend” tweet and had a multi-paragraph address of how we should respect our deceased servicemen and veterans. Let’s not pretend that most people only tweet or Facebook post “remember the fallen” or “some gave all” without one more about the holiday before going back out to the beach, their beer, or their hamburger.
Of course, Fox News waited just 20 minutes after bashing the Vice President before offering their ideas for Memorial Day cocktails.
A good friend of mine posted this on the Gram today and I had to share because of the story of the Christmas that my aunt gave us Crown Royal bags of change from her car.
May is National Mental Health Month. As your poster girl for mental health, I’d be remiss if I didn’t talk about it. Heck, I have a whole page with my mental health story laid out on this very blog.
Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. If you’re dealing with depression or anxiety or whatever it may be and don’t know where to get started to get better, message me. I’m a great listener and I will help you find resources in your area. The most important thing is not to feel shame about needing support or help or medication. You don’t feel shame about taking medicine for cholesterol — a disease is a disease. Take care of yourselves, friends.
Today is the last day of school for my middle and youngest kids. I didn’t do anything special, so I’m probably the worst parent ever. My daughter had her usual end-of-year sleepover and I ordered pizza, but no signs in the yard or last day photos. The kids didn’t seem to notice I didn’t do photos, so in going to let myself off the hook.
My daughter and I have been bingeing Top Chef on Peacock from the beginning and this popped up when I hit pause.
Yeah, that’s how pause works, Capital One. I hit pause and the magic streaming cable box knows to pause the show. You’re not helping me — the tv would do this without you. This is an ad. No one is dumb enough to think you are holding their place while they go to the bathroom. Ugh. The stupidity.
