I’m a day late in celebrating International Women’s Day, but I will be featuring a woman I applaud in history starting tomorrow and until the end of the month for Women’s History Month. Today I thought I’d kick it off and share this from Keeley Shaw.
My local theater is a Showbiz and I’ve walked up to or past the sort of marquee numerous times without really thinking about it until yesterday.
It’s Hollywood’s biggest stars from past and present and Cameron Diaz. It’s the Hollywood sign in red for some reason and Cameron Diaz. It’s actors, in character, and Cameron Diaz.
Austin Powers is somewhat dated. The only person of color appears to be Killmonger from Black Panther, but Michael B.Jordan didn’t wear those sunglasses the film. I even zoomed in and did a Google reverse image search and can’t figure it out.
For those of you taking notes — I have anxiety. Back in my childhood, there was a game called Perfection, which induced anxiety in some and OCD in other children. Both, if you were extra disordery.
This is what Christians get wrong. Pray for everyone. That’s what Jesus said to do. Not to pray for “fellow Christians.” This is the kind of thing that makes me question if people like this senator has read the word of Jesus. Because Jesus would be helping ALL people because He loves ALL people.
I’ve always thought “yeah, that’s a weird saying,” but never written about it. So many sayings make little sense or aren’t conceived well. Of course there are more than two ways!
Y’all have a good Fat Tuesday. I grew up in Shreveport and Mardi Gras wasn’t a thing until I was probably a senior in high school. Now it’s huge. Then we moved to Covington, LA when Katie was a baby and whoa, it was wild. So, happy Mardi Gras. If you’re able, have some king cake or at least Popeyes.
There is a reason you won’t read anything on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on my blog because I am not an expert, I have no ties to Ukraine or Russia, and I have nothing to add to the conversation. I am praying for the people and leaders of Ukraine, but that’s all you’ll hear from me.
I keep reading tweets and seeing videos of people literally saying “I don’t know what to say about Ukraine…” ok, then how about don’t? Don’t make it about you. The same thing happens when any disaster happens or when people announce the death of a celebrity. The celebrity deaths are super weird because random person I’ve known since middle school and have been Facebook friends with for 11 years will post “RIP DMX. He was my favorite rapper who got me through the roughest times in my life.” Shut up, Heather. You wouldn’t know DMX from DMC.
Just leave space for journalists and experts. That’s all.
