I’m starting a blog series about my recent mental breakdown, hospitalization, and history of my mental illness on Monday. 

It’s going to be emotionally raw and honest and the hardest thing I’ve attempted to write, but it’s my story and I have to tell it. I’m the only one who can tell it. Hopefully, it will shed some light on a much misunderstood topic and help someone out there who is struggling.  I’m not a doctor, I’m not a therapist, but I do have a unique experience that, as a writer and all-around creative person, I had to put it into words and get it out there. 

Join me Monday, as I begin to peel back the layers of many years of things a lot of you can relate with or know someone who is fighting their way back from the edge (or teetering on that ledge) right now.

Dude. The Atari 2600 was the bomb. I lived for Centipede and Super Breakout. And I was good. Like expert level. The last time I was in my childhood home (probably 10 years ago), I checked the top of my old closet and the console was still there. Sadly, it’s gone to Video Game Heaven, most likely during some sort of spring cleaning. By the way, my favorite thing as a kid was skipping school to go with my mom on bowling league days, so I could play all the video games. The bowling alley had the best games.

I really wanted to see Bob Schneider last week. He is awesome. I couldn’t get anyone to go with me. Always ready to see my Counting Crows. I hope OK Go comes to Houston soon – they might be the band I most want to see live. I love them.

The last cartoon I watched was Gravity Falls with my kids last week. It’s a smart, funny, mystery-centered show and the character Mabel makes me laugh. Mabel is voiced by Kristen Schaal, who is just great. If you have 11 year olds, they will enjoy it. If your 40 and have an 11 year old, you will like the humor of the show.

Did I tell y’all I lost everything on my laptop including my photos? Yeah. At least until I get a genius to look at my old hard drive. So, most of my photos are either gone or have to be scanned again. The best phot I could find was one from the Toad the Wet Sprocket/Counting Crows concert last July, taken by the bassist for Toad.
