busy bee

Hey y’all.  Just wanted to apologize in advance, I’m super busy getting ready for ScrapFest! and will do my best to blog over the next week.  Still lots to do on my end and we’re really looking forward to the event.  I’m headed to bed and will be spending all day tomorrow printing workshop tickets and other various and sundry items.  You ready for the worst part?  I’m out of half and half, no Coffee Mate either.  I’m going to have to go to PJ’s before I’m fully awake and get a beverage.  By tomorrow afternoon I may be ready for a margarita, even though I’ve had my one margarita for the year (Cinqo de Mayo, ya know).   Later peeps.

Crazy week, sushi, & Sam’s

Whew, this week has been crazy.  One week ’til ScrapFest! and I have all the printing left to do.  I’m going to go through a lot of ink and paper this weekend.  Publisher and I are going to be bff’s after this weekend.  I’m going to take Publisher out for drinks and do karaoke.  We’re going to partay like it’s 1999 and then print more stuff into the wee hours while listening to some slow jams.  Yeah, my brain’s fried from being in front of this computer working on ScrapFest! stuff for the past 5 hours.  Yes, I said 5 hours.  I forgot to eat dinner ’cause I was burning up my keyboard and Hello Kitty mouse.  Yeah, I have a light-up Hello Kitty mouse, you wanna make something of it?  That’s what I thought.

Megan and I found a new sushi place this week.  Here’s Andrew learning how to use chopsticks.  Yeah, I’m teashing the boy all about international cuisine.  He loved the crunchy roll.  Of course, he brought in cars to play with. We went to Sam’s today.  I saw someone buy 6 cases of waffles.  60 waffles in a case.  That’s a lot of waffles.  I would multiply that, but I’m squinting to see this screen and think I need some sleep.  It’s 12:07 in the a.m.

new banner for fall

I’m ready for fall, ready for it to be a little cooler here in the hot & sticky south.  So, I thought I’d give the blog a little makeover with a new banner.  I made it with Rhonna Farrer’s digital scrapbooking kits from twopeasinabucket.com — great site.  I’m new to the whole digi scrapbooking thing, but I like the way the banner turned out.  Those are my colors, you know.  Let me know whatcha think in the Comments.

The girls are back in school, Andrew and I are hanging out during the day.  Monday was hard on him, he woke up at 6:15 when I got the girls up and we saw them off at 6:45, which is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early to catch the bus.  School starts at 7:31.  Andrew asked “where MollyKatie where KatieMolly” a thousand time before we went to Target at noon.  He says MollyKatie and KatieMolly as one word.  Yesterday we went to the Mall of Louisiana with Megan, I picked up my iPhone (finally), we had a yummy lunch at Bravo, and he was great.  Today was lunch at Osaka with Megan and he loved it.  Here’s a funny one: we went to Books-a-million, which was filthy-gross dirty and the children’s books were a mess.  I was looking for potty books for Andrew, thinking maybe he will get interested in potty training.  I kept finding creepy books.  No one needs a pop-up toilet training book.  That’s just wrong.  There was not one, but two different pop-up potty books.  Two.  The only thing worse would be scratch and sniff.  Megan decided we should write children’s books after that.

My back to school scrapbook paper pick

This is my back-to-school scrapbook paper pick I’m currently loving. It’s by October Afternoon and the line is Detours. Love the apples. I’ll do Katie’s 1st day of school layout with this line and hopefully find the new Fancy Pants to do Molly’s with. How cute are those apples?  Picked the paper up at Scrappersaurus Mandeville.  Oh, and you’ve got 37 days ’til ScrapFest! I’m starting the countdown!

scrapblog

I’ve been playing around with Scrapblog for a while now, so I guess it’s only right to share my little find with the world.  It’s the easiest way I’ve found to make a digital scrapbook page without knowing Photoshop.  Scrapblog now has one of my fave designers, Rhonna Farrer’s designs, so it’s even better.  Go play on Scrapblog this weekend.  Here’s one I just did of Molly.  It takes minutes.  In Photoshop this layout would take me all day, but who am I kidding, I would give up, curse the computer, and say I’m never trying digital scrapbooking again.

Edit: I forgot to tell y’all — I save my scrapblog layouts by clicking export as jpeg and saving it to my pics.  I use the scrapblog layouts as desktop backgrounds on my laptop.  You can make one for each holiday, season, whatever.  Fun, huh?

Happy Bastille Day (and a layout for your Monday)

Y’all know I love celebrating random holidays, so happy Bastille Day.

I’m busy with ScrapFest! stuff and this is my mom’s last day in town, so this isn’t going to be a long post day.  Maybe I’ll post later, who knows.  Here’s a random layout for today.  Sorry the for the flash on the picture, but hey, I don’t have a 12×12 scanner & it’s the best I could do.  In case anyone’s looking for a belated birthday gift idea for me, a 12×12 scanner would be awesome.

Countdown to Noon at the Zoo

Countdown to Noon at the Zoo
Countdown to Noon at the Zoo

Here’s a layout I did at Crop Connection  in Pearl, MS in January 2007 — Countdown to Noon at the Zoo.  It was the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans’ family New Year’s Eve celebration and if you’re ever in New Orleans for Ney Year’s with kids, you should go.  There were party hats, a chocolate milk toast, and music.  Oh, and there are animals at the zoo, too.  January is a great time for the zoo because it’s usually a good temperature, the animals are happy it’s not hot, and the kids don’t get hot and ask for snowballs and icecream every 20 minutes.  And avoid the bird area — it smells seriously bad and it creeps me out, but then again, I don’t like birds.  The bears are awesome, the big cats, and the elephants are the best.  Whatever you do, don’t go to any zoo during elephant mating season.  We made that mistake in Calgary and that’s an image burned forever in my mind.  I can’t write about it here, it’s too disgusting for words.  Personally, I don’t want to see any animal mate, but good grief — the largest land animal — I can’t say any more, I just got a sick feeling and I want to think about something good like Katie’s birthday cake all lonely in the fridge.
