30 day song challenge -day 30 – your favorite song at this time last year

*I'm taking the song challenge to mean "of all time," not genre-specific. Any of these songs are subject to change at any time.

It's hard for me to think of what my favorite song was last spring, but I think it was "40 Dogs (Romeo and Juliet)" by Bob Schneider. The album Lovely Creatures came out before then, but I didn't get it until about a year ago after my friend Will told me about it. I had never heard of Schneider, but after listening to him, I think he's extremely talented and I love this song.

And so that concludes the 30 Day Song Challenge. What did you think?

30 day song challenge – day 29 – a song from your childhood

No question about it – "Islands in the Stream" is the song of my childhood. I unashamedly love this song. And if it comes on in a store I will sing out loud (as the people of Michael's know). I have sung this with our massage therapist at ScrapFest! because I cannot resist a Kenny and Dolly duet. I know this may be shocking to some of you, but it's Kenny and Dolly for crying out loud. By the way, when I was a kid, I thought they were married because they talked about being lovers. You did to, right? Say you did, don't make me feel stupid.

"I Love Rock 'n Roll" may be the first record I bought with my own cash money (at 6), but "Islands in the Stream" is my jam.

You were singing along too, weren't you?

30 day song challenge – day 28 – a song that makes you feel guilty

*I'm taking the song challenge to mean "of all time," not genre-specific. Any of these songs are subject to change at any time.

Well, I'm at a loss for this one because I don't know how a song can make one feel guilty. I also don't really believe in guilt, but that is a topic for another day. So, I don't know what to post. A song with lots of cursing? Something by a boy band? Something similar to the feeling of guilt? Remorse? Regret? Maybe. The song "Photograph" by Ringo Starr has always struck me as a regretful but beautiful song.

30 day song challenge – day 27 – a song that you wish you could play

*I'm taking the song challenge to mean "of all time," not genre-specific. Any of these songs are subject to change at any time.

Everyone knows that I love my Paul McCartney. "Junk"  was written while McCartney was still with the Beatles, but it failed to make it to an album. Luckily, it is on his first solo album, McCartney, recorded in 1970. McCartney is a wonderful stripped-down album that I love and own on vinyl as well the magic digital version. If you've never heard it, you should. Anyvinyl, "Junk" is a lovely song that I sang to all three of my babies as a lullaby. I'm not sure why I picked this song just over ten years ago to sing to the oldest, but it fit and it worked with all three. "Singalong Junk" was performed on Unplugged years ago, but it just didn't do it for me — I love the music and the words. If I could play a song, this is one I would pick.

morons and other thoughts

I am at the park. The asshole in the picture is playing "Mac the Knife" on his laptop. I honestly do not know what is wrong with people. I am not a completely unreasonable person, but things annoy the hell out of me.

Also, a man and his son are trying to fly a kite and it is far too windy. Moron.

Some kid threw sand into the air. Asshole kid.

A woman is wearing a halter top with a regular bra. Tacky moron.

Guy got the kite stuck in a tree. Genius.

30 day song challenge – day 26 – a song that you can play on an instrument

*I'm taking the song challenge to mean "of all time," not genre-specific. Any of these songs are subject to change at any time.

This was a hard one because I used to play violin, but I hated it and honestly it was years ago and well before I discovered there was good (read: fun) and different (read: not classical) music that was out there for violin. I played by ear, never learned sheet music, and loathed the instrument.

I thought I'd share the song that was the biggest pain in the ass to play, part of the William Tell Overture.

Here's 3 chicks playing it.

When I was a kid and a teenager I loved going to my Aunt Vicki and Uncle Ron's house because Ron indulged my love of music. It was he who introduced me to The Beatles. He plays lots of instruments and appreciates good music. Back when "No One is to Blame" came out he showed me how to play it on piano. I'm not sure if I can still play it, but it's one of my favorites.

30 day song challenge – day 25 – a song that makes you laugh

*I'm taking the song challenge to mean "of all time," not genre-specific. Any of these songs are subject to change at any time.

Okay, I was going to pick Ben Fold's "Levi Johnston's Blues" because it's funny and awesome, but the song that makes me laugh is The Beatles' "You Know My Name, Look Up the Number." This is a long song, but completely worth listening to and/or making it your ringtone for fun.

30 day song challenge – day 24 – a song that you want to play at your funeral

*I'm taking the song challenge to mean "of all time," not genre-specific. Any of these songs are subject to change at any time.

Prof. Dr. Hilljary said this topic was morbid, but I'm fine with it. I want my funeral to be fun. I've told the hubs many times that I want a closed hot pink casket with the best picture ever taken of me on top. I'd like everyone to wear pink. I don't want a bunch of flowers. For goodness sake – no candles. Maybe a magician. And I'd like some men from Chippendales to carry the casket. I don't need pallbearers. I want people to tell funny stories and I want "When They Ring Them Golden Bells" by Natalie Merchant played on a ghettoblaster. I'd also like "Nightshift" by the Commodores. Yes, I have a sense of humor.

I used to love the TLC.

I would totally watch Dwarf Hoarders, Uterus Cannon, and Hasty Home Surgery. And Cake Whores. Cake Whores may be my favorite new phrase, as in, "who is that by the cake?" "oh, that cake whore? That's Sheila." Yes, I like it.

By the way, real shows on TLC include Little Chocolatiers, Extreme Couponing, and Strange Sex.
