Man, another great song. But they’re all great songs because I picked them.

Easy.
“Ruby Tuesday” by the Rolling Stones.
Y’all are going to have to hear me out on this one because it’s complicated, like me. I love A LOT of covers, especially the covers of ’80s songs that were featured on Grey’s Anatomy in season 15 (I believe), but this one is my absolute favorite in the world. This song is a cover AND a mash-up before mash-ups were a thing – before they existed, sure people would play a song and go right into another song on an album, but this is a completely different animal all together. Dear Readers, this is going to blow your mind if you’ve never heard it. In 1990 The Pet Shop Boys covered U2’s “Where the Streets Have No Name” and combined it with Frankie Valli’s 1960 song “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You,” swirled them up, threw glitter in the air, blew air kisses and released this gift to the world.
Yes, I wrote all that from memory. I told y’all I have a weird memory.
I give you “Where the Streets Have No Name (Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You.”
The challenge said “a song you want played at your wedding,” but I was married 22 years ago, so the song I’m picking was the song played right before I walked down the aisle.
“My Love” by Paul McCartney
I knew I wanted to include this song in some capacity, so here you go.
“Silver Springs” by Fleetwood Mac.
This is a really fun one. I’ve been a music fan for as long as I can remember. It’s one of the things that’s been a part of me all my life. Music is always there. No matter what. No matter where you are or who is there or isn’t there. As long as you have something to play music on, it’s there. It’s always on.
In my pre-teen years, in middle school, I discovered Centenary College’s radio station and it brought the love of alternative, new wave, and indie music to me and I fell in love. It was the first love of my life. But one of the bands that was even before that, but I associate with being 11 or 12 was “Notorious” but Duran Duran. It’s such a fun song. If you have the opportunity to see them live, go. It’s a party.
This song is, in my opinion, a perfect song. I’ve loved it forever and I’ve played it on repeat several times in the past 25 or so years. If you don’t know the Breeders or the Pixies, just know Kim Deal is the real deal. And just so you know, I am the Last Splash and a Cannonball.
A lot of songs are sad, but it takes something to really make me sad. The song I’ve picked for today is “Fix You” by Coldplay. It gets me every time I hear it.
I love this song so damn much. It needs to be played loud and sung along to.
“Up All Night (Frankie Miller Goes to Hollywood)” by Counting Crows
This fits the challenge, but is also a beautiful song. This is a hard one. My sister died from a drug overdose last week. I’ll write about it at some point. When the numbness wears off.
“There She Goes” by the La’s
