Because everyone else is talking about it…
I’ve never had much of an opinion on Kelly Clarkson apart from the first season of American Idol. But yesterday she said she’s been using “not Ozympic, but another one,” while previously she attributed her weight loss to exercise and changing eating habits. Her doctor had been suggesting it for two years because of her lab work.
There is nothing wrong with weight loss medication or surgery. You’re not taking “the easy way” of losing weight. Oprah did the same diet and exercise” line before telling the truth about taking medication. I don’t understand why there is still a stigma surrounding this or why celebrities don’t want to talk about it. I hope that Clarkson’s admission helps the subject. We’ll see.
There’s a whole section of this blog dedicated to my weight loss surgery. It’s not the easy way out. Nothing about it had been easy. I gained weight back after having a hysterectomy and coping with incredibly painful osteoarthritis. That has been the worst. I’m in chronic pain, but hey, my blood pressure and blood sugar are great.
There are pros and cons to everything. If you’re at a place where you can’t lose weight in a conventional manner, you want to lose a certain percentage of your body weight, and you have health concerns talk to your doctor and most probably a specialist to find out what YOUR best options are. There is no one answer for everyone.
And for Pete’s sake: celebrities, stop lying about your weight loss. Tell paparazzi and reporters you don’t discuss your body. That’s not hard. People will theorize, but it’s better than lying about it. Be better.
