So, I started a new hobby that isn’t using paper or paint or ink or stamps or decoupage. Well, maybe kind of decoupage, but different. About a year ago during this world pandammit, an ad by Wattle and Loop kept showing up in my Instagram feed and I’d look at it and finally clicked on it. They make embroidery sets with a pattern, bits of fabric and embroidery floss. That’s all. They call it slow stitching and I love it because there aren’t any real rules. You cut the petals and leaves and whatever. You can use whatever stitches you want.
I decided I wanted to do four separate flower patterns on canvas and picked them out to order, but they were on backorder and thrilling was insane because they’re in Australia.
Then I started thinking about what exactly is need to do my own kits for my personal use. I found canvas and floss at Michael’s and ordered sets of scrap fabric on Etsy by searching “pink scrap fabric” or yellow, white. It took me a while to start cutting because I’m used to paper, not fabric. So, I cut petals, leaves, and stems. Then little bits to add depth because I can’t leave well enough alone.
