4.26/365: the vaccine

I’m the last person who wants to write about the vaccine for COVID 19, but I saw an Unspirational quote today and wanted to post it.

On the local Houston news tonight, it was reported that my county has made it nearly impossible to find where you have to register for vaccination. It was hidden behind several pages on the county’s website. The reporter spoke to someone a little younger than me who said a grandparent would have to get a grandchild or niece to help them find the link to register for the vaccine.

The last administration made the rollout of the COVID 19 vaccine bad enough, why are local officials making it worse? If the goal is to get as many people vaccinated as safely and quickly as possible, why make it harder?

We all know it’s been ridiculous. There should have been a clear national program, but there wasn’t and now people are confused and more people will get sick while waiting for vaccines. I do think the current administration will get it right, but the states are a mess right now. Other countries did it right, and we could have done the same had we not had the last president involved.

It’s frustrating that my 70-year-old parents can’t find the vaccine. One parent is three-year cancer survivor, the other has several comorbidities. Am I concerned? Yes. I’m concerned for them and I’m frustrated at national, state, and local governments.

Let’s all hope and let’s pray vaccines and made more readily available very soon. In the meantime, I will pray for all of our families.

Hearts, KBF
