30 day song challenge: dday 18 – a song that you wish you heard on the radio

*I'm taking the song challenge to mean "of all time," not genre-specific. Any of these songs are subject to change at any time.

As I said yesterday, I don't listen to the radio. If I listened to the radio, there are lots of songs I'd love to hear – so I'll pick two. Nataly Dawn's cover of Rufus Wainwright's "Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk" is one. I simply adore this song. I like Dawn's version more than the original, it's good stuff. The lyrics are wonderful and her voice suits the song perfectly. Enjoy.

My other pick would be Stars' "Your Ex-Lover is Dead." This band is new to me and I am smitten. The girl singer's voice reminds me of Juliana Hatfield (and I love Juliana Hatfield). This song is wonderful.

Some of the best lyrics I've heard in years:

"There's one thing I want to say, so I'll be brave
You were what I wanted
I gave what I gave
I'm not sorry I met you
I'm not sorry it's over
I'm not sorry there's nothing to save"
